Parma is confirmed as the European leading site for the food industry.
After EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), also EHEDG (European Hygienic
Engineering & Design Group) has open here its regional headquarter to
support and strengthen the competence in food processing plants and equipment
design and manufacturing, and to provide guidance on the hygienic engineering
aspects of production of safe and wholesome food.
Founded in 1989,
EHEDG is a consortium of multinational equipment manufacturers and food
companies like Unilever, Nestlé, Kraft Foods and the GEA Group, research and
educational institutes and public health authorities, actively supporting
European legislation to improve quality and safety of food through hygienic
processing conditions.
March 8th and 9th, 2007 GEA Niro Soavi hosted in
its facility in Parma the annual EHEDG Executive Committee Meeting. It has been
a very good opportunity to show to the committee members and representatives of
leading technology and food processing companies GEA Niro Soavi factory,
products and know-how on high pressure homogenization technology.
In
the same occasion, the Italian EHEDG regional group, formed by the University
of Parma, GEA Niro Soavi, Barilla, Procomac, Parmalat amongst the others, has
been introduced to the Executive Committee.
